What to Expect From The DMV Road Test

January 24th, 2008

They will be looking to see if you always use your signal when you
are making turns or lane changing. They will see how well you have
control of the vehicle and if you can take off smoothly without making
the vehicle jerk. You will be graded on how smoothly you apply the
brake and come to a stop. Slamming on the brake at the last minute will
get points taken off. They will check to make sure you do not have a
problem using your signals, lights or wipers while driving when you
need them. The proper hand position when steering is also very
important and something they will check for.

Some of the other areas you will be graded on include parallel and
regular parking and how good you are of judging distances. They will
also be making sure that you follow all of the speed limit signs and
check to see how well you can merge with traffic. Another very
important feature the examiner will be looking for is how courteous you
are to other drivers. This is very important to ensure the roads are a
safer place to be. In fact, that is the whole point of the DMV road
test. They help to make sure the people that receive a driver’s license
have the knowledge and ability to be a safe driver.
